Top Places I’ve Stayed

BEST PLACE I’VE STAYED: The Sansuikan is a traditional ryokan in the midst of the mountains of Takatsuki, Osaka Prefecture, Japan.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary by staying at a traditional ryokan. A ryokan is a type of Japanese-style inn with tatami matted-rooms, laid out futons, streams and baths to relax, and a Japanese breakfast (as well as dinner) is often provided. Since I don’t eat meat, I was a little afraid of staying in a place with a plated menu for breakfast, but Sansuikan was top notch! We also had a beautiful view that overlooked the streams below, and we each took turns in the spa, where they are normally sparated into men & women areas for the spa / sauna area.

The most comfortable bed!

I was so excited to sleep on a traditional tatami mat with the futons provided and I fell asleep so quickly after we arrived from traveling all day - but I have to say, it was some of the best sleep I’ve ever had! If you get a chance to sleep on tatami mats, I highly recommend it!

TOP OVERALL FOR MOST COZY: COPENHAGEN, DENMARK

Copenhagen, Denmark had, by far, the most cozy place to stay.

I stayed at a friend’s brothers apartment when visiting Copenhagen, and here I was able to learn how to make thinly sliced danish pancakes, which was absolutely scrumptious!

There are also a lot of bikes around the area in Copenhagen with the majority of transportation being on-foot and through the train system!

MOST FUN PLACE TO STAY:

Bus Hostel in Bergen, Norway.

This hostel was by far, one of the top hostels I’ve stayed where I collected memories that will last a lifetime. I was easily able to make friends with those around me. I felt the people there were so friendly, the hostel had a ton of ways to have their guests participate for free, and I felt safe!

MOST UNIQUE PLACE I STAYED: Incas in Machu Picchu Peru

At night, there was entertainment and Peruvian musicians playing the flute for us. We ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel for the evening we stayed and the stars in the sky so far from the city was unlike anything I’ve ever seen. I’m glad we got to experience such a unique place!

THE CLEANEST HOTEL: HONG KONG

The cleanest hotel I’ve ever stayed in was actually right when we arrived into Hong Kong! We stayed in this small hotel next to the airport to catch up on some sleep, and the beds were comfortable, the sheets were pressed, and they even gave us our own pajamas to wear with slippers!
