Szimpla Kert

The most famous Ruin Bar in the city of Budapest is Szimpla Kert. Szimpla Kert means “Ruin Pub” in Hungarian. Ruin Pub’s are bars that inhabit old buildings lacking in upkeep and are fairly popular! Szimpla Kert was the first ruin pub to open in Budapest back in the early 2000’s and it has a large open courtyard where one can watch indie films. Inside, you can find quirky furniture and unique decor!

Palinka is a fruit brandy that is very popular in Hungary (they even have a museum all about it)! The Palinka Museum is located in Budapest, with a popular liquor store “House of Hungarian Palinka” right nearby!

Heroes Square

Heroes Square is an iconic monument of the Seven Chieftains of the Magyars and is one of the main monuments to visit in Budapest!

Budapest is the largest city in Hungary with over 1.7 million residents! The Hungarian Parliament and Buds Castle are located near the Danube River and they are both classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site!

PROTIP: Have you ever wondered where to find the best places to eat, experience, and visit while traveling?

One of the tricks I use while traveling is to get comfortable walking into hotels and asking the front desk for reservations, even if you aren't staying at the hotel.  The hotel staff tend to be locals so they know the best recommendations around!
